A common and consequential error
Milligrams and millilitres are not interchangeable. A 5 mg container dissolved in 1 mL and the same 5 mg dissolved in 5 mL contain identical material at very different concentrations, so the same target quantity occupies a five-fold different volume. Confusing the two is one of the most consequential arithmetic errors in this area.
